Upon coming clean, she was given a lifetime ban that was later reduced to 10 years. She initially denied taking the banned substance and announced her retirement months later. She’d tested positive for aerobic capacity booster, EPO, in an out-of-competition test. But then in 2005, her career came to an immediate halt. Her early twenties added even more world cup wins, stage race honors and national title to her palmarès.
